Bookshop in Rome
There is a cool bookshop in Rome called L'Aventure Liberia, which contains both comics and prints of comic art ie wall prints etc from Tintin and other comics. It is a particularly stylish shop so it gets a mention here. The address is Via del Vantaggio, 21 00186 Roma. Or www.libreria-laventure.com
27th January 2008 Movie website IGN.com reported that auditions were taking place for 16 characters, included identical police officers Thomson and Thompson. Jackson and Spielberg will direct at least one movie each, with Spielberg filming his in Los Angeles and Jackson in Wellington - but the two have been tight- lipped about casting or which of the 23 Tintin books they will film. However, if the audition list is accurate, it provides clues to the books likely to make the big screen. The roles include British Lieutenant Delacourt and soldier Ahmed - who both appear in The Crab with the Golden Claws, set in the Sahara. It is the first Tintin adventure to feature the hard-drinking Captain Haddock. Other characters on the audition list include pirate Red Rackham, smugglers Max and Gerontium Bird, Tintin's landlady Mrs Finch, the mysterious Sakharine and pickpocket Aristides Silk - who feature in The Secret of the Unicorn and its sequel, Red Rackham's Treasure. Spielberg recently said the three films would be shot entirely with motion-capture technology similar to that used in The Lord of the Rings and King Kong. Wellington visual effects studio Weta Digital is considered to be at the forefront of using the technology for computer-generated effects.

A man resembling Cuthbert Calculas points to the mural created by the 15 year old boy scout Hege.
Some recent renovation rescue on Herge's old high school has revealed a mural he painted when aged just 15. The Wall art depicts a night in shining armour and cowboys and indians galloping along the wall. Cool. Whats more the un-named chap pointing at the wall art appears to resemble prefessor Calculas.

Spielberg has given away some more clues today.
He has revealed that he will direct the second movie, Jackson the first and as yet there is no director for the third movie. Amazingly he said that if they dont find a new director for the third movie, then he and Jackson will consider co-directing it!!
Shortly the filming will commence in the United States. Motion capture technology - the newest and best available will be used.
This gives a real life appearance embedded in the real world, for example have a look at Lord of the rings, Transformers and King Kong. Only this one technology is said to be the latest version.

I always held Monkey Magic, Dr Who, Tintin and few other shows up on a pedastal as the best of the best of classic entertainment. So it is with a good deal of vindication that I announce that a writer from the DR WHO series has become involved in the up comming TINTIN MOVIE.
British writer Steve Moffat, who writes the script for the contemporary Dr Who series, has been recruited by Speilberg and Jackson for the upcomming Tintin feature films. Excellent.
DESTINATION MOON Book 1 of 2.
It is truly amazing that Herge created this detailed technical description of a trip to the moon in a space ship. Even more so when one considers that the whole description seems based on the NASA moon landings. Yet this book was published years before the moon landings. In that sense one could conclude that Herge's expertise is all the more original.
